ETF Tax Free Investment Account – International Portfolio
The International Portfolio is suitable for an investor with an investment horizon of at least 10 years – it is designed to provide rand-hedge protection with growth in capital for tax free investments.
The portfolio is only suitable for high risk-tolerant investors. The intention of this portfolio is to provide rand-hedge protection over time, through total exposure to foreign ETFs listed on the JSE. This represents a high risk investment as significant losses may occur in the event of rand appreciation.
The portfolio does not pay out interest or dividends – any distributions received from underlying investments are automatically reinvested into the portfolio to allow for additional compounded growth on a tax free basis.

ETF Tax Free Investment Account – Balanced Portfolio
An ETFIA is ideal for investors who want a low cost, transparent investment-linked tax free account. The Balanced Portfolio is suitable for an investor with an investment horizon of 3-5 years – investors who wish to preserve the value of their near-term tax free savings and investments.
The portfolio is well-suited for more conservative investors. The intention of this portfolio is to provide a low-to-medium risk balanced fund tax free account. Any capital gains realised in this account will also be tax free.
The portfolio does not pay out interest or dividends – any distributions received from underlying investments are automatically reinvested into the portfolio to allow for additional compounded growth on a tax free basis.

ETF Tax Free Investment Account – Equity Account
This is a higher risk portfolio than the ETFSA Tax-Free Income Account with the intention of generating tax-free capital growth over time.
ETF portfolios have been constructed for clients with the following core objectives
• Using multiple ETFs to give a balanced strategic asset allocation portfolio
• Focusing on low volatility portfolios to generate long-term growth with limited standard deviation risk.
• Reducing the concentration risk of the portfolio by limiting the allocation to any single share on an aggregated basis. For instance, the maximum exposure to any single share is less than 4% of the total portfolio.
• Selecting only liquid, low-cost ETFs for inclusion in the portfolio.
ETF Tax Free Investment Account – Income Portfolio
This portfolio has been replaced by the Balanced Portfolio since 1 March 2016. If you were invested in the Income Portfolio, your investment will automatically be switched to this Balanced Portfolio, unless you advise the administrator otherwise.
