Should you invest offshore at R15/US$?

It is exceptionally difficult to decide when is the best time to invest offshore based on news headlines. If you want to get more for what you pay, investing when the rand is weak is counter-intuitive. However, investors are inclined to stay onshore when the rand is doing okay and flee when it drops. Almost no one can time the exchange rate perfectly. Investors often lose out on performance when trying to time the market; a disciplined approach is better.
